Pulling out your wallet and counting out the bills while giving it to the person? I certainly hope that's not how you tip in a good restaurant. There's a reason why your check comes in a little folder that can discreetly hold cash. It's the same reason why you don't hand the money to the server directly and why you show some tact when approaching the maitre d', and it's got nothing to do with 'bribery'. Splashing around money indiscreetly has always been gauche. |
