Ask HN: Example of successful exits for distributed team

One of my peer was arguing that exits (like acquisition mostly) is (almost) not possible for distributed technical team. Main argument being that the buyer would want to have the technical team at one place.. Do you have any counter arguments or examples of such acquisition?
