True, not a particle like the Higgs boson, and not new in the sense that we've seen skyrmions in thin films. But this is the first time the phenomena has been observed in a free 3D object (Bose-Einstein condensate), with a 3D knotted magnetic field.

I’m not sure why, but your comment was dead, so I vouched for it. To your point, you’re right, but the title is still quite misleading and doesn’t have to be.
I personally am not a fan of phys.org for that exact reason - headlines are overhyped to the point of clickbait.
I totally agree, and besides if it’s on Phys.org, they ripped it off someone else to begin with.

By the way, your comment was dead again, you might want to email a mod?

The guy only has 3 posts total to his name, including the one you are responding to.

Although I don't think it matches dang's recent comments about why some accounts are dead / shadowbanned, I'm speculating that under certain circumstances, new accounts might just start out dead and need to get a number of upvotes before their posts aren't automatically dead?

I know that sounds a little strange, but I've seen a number of relatively new accounts that are dead and yet don't seem to be spam or trolls. There's a little bit of secret sauce going on that HN doesn't want to be fully transparent about.

Ever since I turned on “show dead” I’ve noticed that too. Of course the sheer volume of spam that’s intercepted thst way is impressive too. The mods are so responsive that I think on balance, it’s a very good sauce.
