In my experience looking for remote positions (in the last few months) it needs to be part of the conversation. It is related because most companies are not going to be open to a new hire going remote unless they have already considered it for the position. For example: at one company I talked with the dev lead/manager was 100% remote, so I assumed it was at least a possibility and didn't directly address being remote until I got to the last round of interviews. Ultimately they passed because "we have no doubt of your ability but we want people in the (open) office regularly." Mentioning it at the beginning would have saved us both time. |
