There is a major difference between Gatorade and Powerade, which is the type of sugar. Gatorade has glucose (aka dextrose, the same sugar as an IV bag) while Powerade has high fructose corn syrup. Glucose can be used directly by your cells while fructose is metabolized in the liver first. So for quick relief from dehydration I choose Gatorade. * Glucose = 100% dextrose * table sugar / sucrose = 50% dextrose * high fructose corn syrup = ~40% dextrose |
