That's actually a point the author makes - he sees an AI as a tool for the artist, not as an creative subject on its own. I found it highly interesting to read about a writer's perspective on text producing AIs. Especially the part where its output suddenly was "I don't know what you want me to do". Part 2 - where he presents a sci-fi short film with a plot written by AI - is also a interesting read.
