The NNT for most antidepressants is ~7, meaning you need to give them to about seven patients for one patient to see a clinically-significant improvement. Which is fine, as long as they stay alive long enough for natural changes to occur. If a prescription gives only hope, that could be enough to keep people strong enough to battle through another day, week, month, year. |
