Short answer is in another thread here. After discussing our performance goals with folks we knew at Basho, they expressed a lot of skepticism that we could meet them with Erlang. How to plug-in potentially heavy user computations in non-Beam based languages is an incredibly tricky problem as well. If you'd be interested in chatting more, I'm happy to that.
