I've thought this as well - location might play into all of this as well. I live in a relatively small county in southeast Georgia and all of the fast food joints here start great but end up abysmal simply due to the caliber of people that are working there. Pay? Location? Manager? Over all framework with all of the above applied as cause? Not sure. Recently several places here (Waffle House and Burger King) are super short staffed because they simply cannot find anyone to fill the positions with the pay advertised. That kind of thing here is becoming more of a problem.
