One thing about software these days is that companies do benefit from open-source and open source projects can control licensing. Therefore, perhaps there should be a revision to popular open-source licenses that essentially says “not permitted for use in developing X” where X is “a social-network product” or whatever. This forces (law-abiding) companies to spend their own resources in more situations, increasing their costs. |
