CPAN requires the old author to explicitly transfer or mark it abandoned-and-available-to-new-owner. For all the things wrong with perl5 (and I love it dearly but have spent enough time I can probably list more things wrong with it than the people who hate it ;) it's always a trifle depressing to watch other ecosystems failing to steal the things we got right. |
