And the US Rail system has a terrible safety record there have been no fatal accidents (excluding person on the line) on the UK rail system in the last decade. The USA has mad many and the number of passengers caried is orders of magnitude less |

The only way I can see to arrive at that statement is to count all train accidents but only Amtrak ridership (total US rail ridership is about 570MM rides, but Amtrak is only about 30MM of that).
