Not sure what you're implying -- Adidas is German and both Adidas and Columbia pre-date Nike.

Not sure where you read a claim that Adidas was started in Portland.

Adidas North America hq is located in Portland. https://www.adidas-group.com/en/group/headquarters/

Columbia Sportswear is headquartered in Portland (just a mile or two north of Nike headquarters). Adidas USA is headquartered in North Portland.
