This apology from the CMO is only the start of what I hope to see. What lesson they learn from this remains to be seen, based on what steps they take to prevent this happening again. The fact that any "lessons learned" from the Pocket debacle weren't enough to prevent this (IMO even more egregious) case doesn't speak very well to Mozilla managements ability to learn from their mistakes. I hold Mozilla to a very high standard compared to pretty much any other tech organization, I care deeply about FireFox, Rust, Servo and the technical work Mozilla does, but they need to be held to account when they take actions that violate our shared values. |
