Managers manage and Bosses Boss. A good manager is like a lineman guarding a quarterback. Everyone wants access to the engineers for features that customers want, bug fixes, etc. A good manager won't let anyone near their engineers. They will filter everything. A boss will toss every... single... little(and big)... fire... at the engineers. A boss will then wonder why nothing ever gets done. A manager manages; staying on top of everything every day. A boss reacts and knee-jerks to everything that comes up "unexpectedly". |
