I'm at NIPS (#NIPS2017) right now and both computer science and industry need more people with strong math backgrounds. Advice: learn how to program and you'll never be in need of interesting-enough mathematics Edit: Learn functional programming. It feels like math to a math person. Imperative programming feels very foreign (e.g., standard python). |
