I also use them to describe processes at work. This has been the most helpful when on-boarding new employees in our group.

Yup, enjoyed reading it. Your on-boarding example has some o erlap with another checklist example given in another book (The E-Myth?) whereby employees at a hotel used comprehensive checklists to ensure that every visitor had the same consistently high quality service during their stay.
