I'm 64 years old and still work. Will likely work full time until I am at least 67. I plan on some form of work part time or otherwise till I'm 70. I got hearing aids a year and 1/4 ago. I did not need a prescription. I live in the states. I have a blue tooth device to listen to podcasts and music. I can also plug in a direct cable since my laptop has crappy Bluetooth. Having hearing aids and the Bluetooth device has been one of the best things I have done for myself in years. They take getting used to but the downside is worth it since the upside is so great. My primary care doctor says she has many patients that need but won't get hearing aids. My audio doctor said I barley needed them. I say bull to that. I hear things now that I was missing for years. I convinced my father in-law to get a pair at 80. He too thinks it is one of the best things he has done. To be clear, at 64 I have pain, soreness, don't sleep as well as I would like, etc. But I also think I have the potential to enjoy life for many years. There is a big market in the aging population. |
