I have long been puzzled by the "combat doesn't work in interactive fiction" conclusion that is common in the IF community. Combat in Skyrim is of the "simulated presence in a cyberspace" form, but there are many successful video games with turn-based combat (ex. Hyperdimension Neptunia, Atelier Rorona, etc.) that could be mapped directly to a text-based interface. |
