$650 is over my personal budget (the price quoted in the article). For the businesses which are mandated to use smart cards, $650 is a competitive price. Your point, however is important: Mass adoption of security technologies is a important, and the cost of this new YubiHSM 2 is prohibitive for any entity who isn't already required to buy HSMs. I do have several YubiKeys for testing smart-card functionality in a MS AD environment. At least those are affordable |
