It may not be "text", but "words" as symbolic constructs do enable us to think. Read Helen Keller's biography; it's a quick read and fascinating seeing her account of how scattered and frustrating her mind was as she was growing up before she learned language. Of course, that might be exacerbated by her blindness/deafness, where for example a sighted person could probably conceptualize objects better without a specific language. |
