I hate to sound like a robot, but as an introvert my ability to express myself and sound genuinely empathetic (when I am empathsizing) sucks. I've read books like How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie but that really focuses on how to achieve YOUR goals. I want to A) better understand people and how they feel by being compassionate, B) learn how I can be a better person around them, and C) most importantly learn how to talk to people to help them feel better. As I begin managing others at work, and as I enter my 6th year of a serious relationship, I want to obtain better frameworks and experiences about helping lift others up and being genuine when communicative, while truly being someone who can help (without just paying lip service) to people of different cultures, ages, and most importantly my girlfriend as we both get older. What books would you recommend? |
