Decades ago, when Java was new, the VMs were not very good, and the comparison was with C and C++, it was commonly said that Java was slow. But these days, Java VMs are vastly better and Java is competing with languages like Python and Ruby. The way things are today, the assumption is that Java is faster than its competition. |
