Under FCRA, your employer or potential employer must get permission from you before performing any credit report (which includes a salary report).

>You must give your consent for reports to be provided to employers. A consumer reporting agency may not give out information about you to your employer, or a potential employer, without your written consent given to the employer. Page 13-14 of the 20 page employment contract you skimmed.
And if you don't agree, you don't get hired.
I think they were asking the opposite. If there were protections preventing that data from being given to the reporting companies in the first place.
