The reason PHP is still in use, and not dead or dying, is that it's one of the simplest languages to write server-side code in. That means it's remarkably easy to hack something together quickly, with no compilation step to get in the way. Unless that changes in a drastic fashion, projects will continue to get started in PHP, and PHP's user base will continue to grow, and (hopefully) the language will continue to improve to accommodate that growth. |
