As I understand it they don't. I don't think they ever have.

Have they started? I thought they insisted that cameras are good enough?

Cameras are definitely not good enough alone. Tesla's enhanced their camera systems with different models of automotive-range radar (most likely manufactured by Bosch; either the LRR4 or the MRR1).
