nginx (HTTP), Prosody (XMPP) and uMurmur (Mumble voice-chat) stand out as being very easy to set up (single configuration file, good documentation) and having no failure modes that I'm aware of. nginx deserves particular mention for handling a HN frontpage crowd on a single-core VM without even blinking. |
