Is there any reason why people were (seemingly) expecting this, or was it just an idea that gained momentum that AMD never actually suggested or considered?
It was brought up in a subreddit thread and an AMD PR replied to it saying they'll look into it or something a long the line.
The thread was basically everybody saying they would buy AMD if they release the code because they'll be the only friend CPU towards the open source community.
