I agree on the bit rot. Its been a problem since the dawn of software, and will be for as far as I can see into the future. Fifty years from now it might not be, since the AI will be writing it in a language we don't even comprehend. I was recently talking to a group in China that is trying to make a system that will let Flash compile to a web-assembly target. But that assumes source and desire. Web-assembly is a nice next target, but mostly people will work in higher level languages. |
