I had a math teacher who agreed. Me and another student sat in the back and we programmed the calculator to do whatever she taught us that day, which she was reviewing it with the other students.

Since we developed the tools, we obviously had an understanding of the concepts and we allowed to use them for homework, and tests and such.

And it kept us from being bored and disruptive, so it worked out for everyone.
