As someone that's always used CentOS for servers until recently when software choices have forced the hand to ubuntu - what do you get with ubuntu that you don't with debian?

Just wondering from a server point of view what's the difference.

Please forgive me asking you directly (others, feel free to jump in!) I can only find "use ubuntu if you're new, debian if not" with no real reason why
