Is economic growth necessary? Is it valid that no growth / slow growth is the same thing as stagnation? What does a world look like when the population is staying roughly constant, with births and deaths in balance? Japan has been in a situation like that for a while now. Instead of poo-pooing it as a long recession, maybe the rest of the world should try to learn from it. |
