I think maybe we were talking past each other. Yes there is more than one reason. It's far easier to add capacity by adding sets, as opposed to ways. But they can't add sets in the L1 because of the aliasing problem. When they do increase L1 capacity, if nothing else has changed, then it will be by adding ways. |
