In the case of BNP, deals were made by a french bank (not US jurisdiction) in its swiss branch (where stuff was legal, also not US jurisdiction). The bank was not judged guilty, but entered a plea, specifically because of the way the US justice system is structured. The jurisdiction claim was therefore not evaluated. |
