Is there a reason why the installer is in french? My preferred language is set to english.

No, you're not alone, but we've fixed it since. The new installer builds will choose the correct language.

Definitely something wrong with the installer's language selection, got a Japanese installer when my primary MacOS language is English. Fortunately the installed app seems to respect the language setting.
