Ask HN: How do I pick a printer?

I need a printer for my co-working space (~70 people). I guess laser. Color, A4. Just a basic printer that won't cost a fortune now or in running costs. Our current one died after I bought some knockoff ink.

The best rated laser printers on Amazon quadruple in price when I look to add compatible/official toner. Some don't even seem to sell official toner. I'm traumatised by the "compatible" ink.

Surely printing is just printing, why so many options.

Is there not one simple printer I can buy, that just works, that just prints?
