This is really a case of "If you have to ask, you'll never know."

That's not meant to be derogatory, just that if you don't have a problem with GNU, you won't have a problem with GNU, because there's nothing wrong with it, it's jut a matter of opinion (usually about the GPL).

There are some areas where GNU (particularly glibc) is somewhat bloaty in the code department compared to other implementations. That can, sometimes, matter, but I agree it tends to be a question of taste and not one of morals.
