I'm not saying pull punches, I'm just saying maybe remember that we aren't talking about a faceless politician here, and that to many, Solomon is someone they've interacted with, and likely in a positive way.

Referring to the guidelines, I'm imploring us to "be civil" and "avoid gratuitous negativity".

Fair enough. I'd also say remember what Mark Twain said about politicians: “Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.”

There's no such thing as a faceless politician, they are human beings too.

In general, I would agree, but we collectively seem a-okay with routine violations of the 'be civil' rule when the target of such incivility is a politician we don't like.
