"The Power of Intuition" by Gary Klein has some good bits on this, but basically look for the cues and patterns you missed, so you know what to look for next time. been doing that with programming (https://softwareclown.com) and the effort of seeing why I made mistake usually gives me much better understanding of what to do better next time.
