I thought this WSL update came with creators edition? Unless you mean the fast track WSL Updates, but not the other windows updates - which yes, I agree, would be nice.

No, this update comes with Build 16176. Creators Update is Build 15046: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/commandline/wsl/release_not...

So in order to get it you would need to join the Fast Insider ring...
