The food won't disappear as long as there is a demand for it. In all likelihood Singapore-like hawker stalls and hawker centres will crop up and replace them, with the same set of offerings. It will be a pity because of temporary loss of jobs and the emotional attachment to street food, but I imagine over time it will all end in better sanitation and less disposable waste. |
