Mm... no. You wrote about a completely different problem. Signing an NDA for an _idea_ is indeed not a good idea. In the case of OP there's an established business with, presumably valuable, internal information to be revealed to a contractor (vendor). NDAs are understandably common/expected in cross-vendor relationships.
