Similar here. Raised a German Shepherd from 8 weeks to 9 years old. Worked from home and rarely spent time away from him over the entire 9 years, was truly my best friend. Didn't even go on vacations without him.

Buried him only 12 days after his first symptoms, aggressive lung cancer. I'm still not over it and 5 months later still have emotional events that last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.
