What really needs to happen is a big name company with money (like Google), to go all out and get a decent linux distro on the market for professionals that everyone can get behind, and also subsidise the development of big name products from Adobe, drivers, game developers, in the short term get the OS to gain traction.

But knowing how Google works they will lose interest in it in three years and then that OS would be in the same position as macOS.
