SF is a small city, relatively bike friendly city. Most residents who would bike around own their own bike. Tourists could use them but why would they when the main tourist zone is easily walkable, Uber is cheap to get elsewhere and the hills deter biking anyway. You've got an inverse situation in NYC where the bike share became part of the point-to-point transit system, covering a huge area. You can't bring a bike on the NYC subway and you wouldn't want to anyways. Residents overwhelmed the rideshare the first few years. Adventurous tourists used it a lot too. |
