I do pretty much the same thing as you for "working tabs" but I bookmark each tab set as something like "[WIP] coffee shops to visit in manhattan" so Chrome doesn't get bogged down with 100+ tabs and multiple "sessions". I also wrote some AppleScript code to move open tab sessions back and forth between Safari and Chrome [1]. You also might be interested in some of the alternatives listed in the readme, like OneTab.
