That may or may not be a good thing. Personally I cannot live without tabs and bookmarks so I use mRemoteNG.

I use PuTTY and connect to a tmux server afterwards.. tabs / sessions / programmable interactions with the terminal are a life saver that tmux provides. Give it a try.
