I don't particularly like how it has become a normal occurrence for people to try and ruin the lives of others simply because they have a different opinion.
I wonder how easy it will be to abuse this new system to bootstrap a company. First clone an already successful company, then find someone politically undesirably using the competitor. Finally release a virtue signalling statement that gets people to use your company instead.
It's happening already, but with pretty limited success. Voat is reddit for people driven off reddit. Gab is twitter for people driven off twitter. Neither of these is a roaring success just yet, but they're better positioned than the average clone.
In general I don't think the splitters are ever likely to gain half the market share of the original because 99% of people do not care for this kind of thing at all.
