It was a long time before aircraft designers figured out how to stop the hydraulics from leaking. My dad (a P51 driver) said you could always tell where a P51 had parked due to the slick it left behind. The trouble was they just didn't have good materials for the seals. Things have gotten a lot better in that department. |
