"No foreign national in a foreign land, without ties to the United States, has any unfettered right to demand entry into the United States"-- how about those with green cards and visas that we are already gave the right to live here to?

Unfortunately only citizenship guarantees entry. Visas and green cards are more like guidelines. Very strong guidelines, but guidelines non-the-less.

Only a DHS agent can grant entry to non-citizens. On a case by case basis.

I imagine the questions are going to get harder. No more easy peasy things like "Where do you work?", "Why are you coming?", "Are you staying?".
